Availablility of information for Democratic decision making

Speaking of clarity, I do think there needs to be some work with
transparency of information. For me, transparency is more than simply
not hiding anything. It's a start, but it's not the whole thing. For
me, transparency includes the ability to find and interpret
information without the need for an intermediary. If I have to track
someone down to get information that's important to me, it's not
transparent. It's readily available, true. But not transparent. To me,
transparent means that an individual has to choose to ignore
information right in front of them. This is a very important
distinction because transparency is an important component to moral
and ethical action within a community governed by consensus.
Otherwise, what winds up happening is that information - and therefore
power - remains in the hands of a few. That's pretty much how this
society works already. If we want to do something different, if we
want to make Surreal Estate something that works outside of those
parameters, we need to guard against slipping into habitual patterns.
And this might bite me in the ass later, but I'm seeing a lot of the
same old shit I see everywhere else. I'll talk about it in detail in
person, but not here.

Importance of Good Feeling

empowered or motivated. for me, and i mean for me, it doesn't make a lick of difference whether we achieve the label of consensus or communal. if that's what the masses are looking for, i'm all for it. for me, living with a group of good-natured people that are generally responsible, creative (in whatever sense), and did i say good-natured?...is the issue. even having everyone looking toward and supporting a concerted goal seems only so sufficient to the _enjoyability_ factor - which is a massive factor. i do not believe in strict rules - not under _these_ circumstances..i believe in guidelines....because the most important assumption is that we will be living with good-natured, reasonable people. creative endeavors are extensions of the human condition contained within these spaces. creativity...even if it means having a dialogue with a man on the corner - has an enormous ability to create a euphoric air or outlook on a person's life. i think within the community, and well beyond that - to the physically outward, extended community that we will inevitably possess - we will be better received by the terms in which our relationships with each other [hopefully] thrive, and not how our model of living thrives. it should be well-understood that most people living here are in their young 20's and fresh out of college or whatever and from time to time they will think "what am i doing with my life," like an extension of the fear of death or getting old, and they will turn toward other means to get what they feel they need to achieve personal accomplishment. whether or not we become idealistic manifestations of consensus or communal warriors, always making sure they are suppressing their personal egos, continually going beyond themselves to recognize the impact on those they coexist with, i think a very small amount of people here, if any, won't ever have endured some form of discontent - because it is fundamentally _likely_ in the flow of emotional chaos.

i think what we have here is special, and i'm doing what i can to build something great. that's my abstract. for me, it has less to do with the way it is expressed.
